Dogs truly are our best friends. But more than friends, they become our family. If you need ideas on fun things to do with your dog in Dallas, Texas for his/her birthday, or just because you want to show them some love, you’ve come to the right place.
Here’s the perfect way to spend the day with your dog in Dallas, Texas!
Go For a Swim at White Rock Lake Dog Park
Taking your fur baby to a dog park has probably already been checked off your list of fun things to do with your dog in Dallas. But what if I said that aside from having a typical off-leash fenced dog park, you could also have a swimming area!
The White Rock Lake Dog Park has three separate areas; a fenced park for small dogs, a fenced park for large dogs, and a swimming area called the “Dog Launch.” The swimming area has steps where dogs can access the lake.
Dogs of all sizes enjoyed this activity and couldn’t get enough of it. If your dog likes the water, be sure to bring your towel! :)
If you’re worried about your dog jumping into the water, they don’t necessarily have to jump if they don’t feel comfortable doing so.
My dog Zoey, who just turned 11, prefers to walk into the water and swim toward her tennis ball.
She LOVES it.
We have a blast watching her swim happily in the water and chase after the balls we throw in for her.
The view of the lake is a bonus for us hoomans!
If your dog is not the strongest swimmer, you can still enjoy a nice day with him/her at the dog park instead.
Either way, it’s still a win-win. The section for small dogs and the section for larger dogs are adjacent to the swimming area and are very nice and spacious.

Hit the Trails at White Rock Lake
If your pup isn’t tired from all the swimming, you can hit the nearby trail!
Walk around the fenced section for large dogs, and you will find a path that leads to a trail. You and your fur baby can enjoy more lake views as you hike around the lake.

For the sake of this itinerary, park at the dog park: 8000 Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, TX 75231
Grab Lunch at Cane Rosso
After swimming or walking the trails, drive to Cane Rosso‘s patio to have lunch.
There are a lot of pet-friendly restaurants in Dallas where you can take your dog and have a fun afternoon.
We like Cane Rosso because:
a.) We love PIZZA!
b.) Cane Rosso literally means “Red Dog” in Italian. Zoey is red, so naturally, we chose to go there.#destiny
And we sure were glad that destiny led us there! The outdoor patio is really cute and the food and drinks are delicious! (If it’s summer, order the frosé).

Time for a Treat
Save room for dessert because you are ending the day at Sprinkles! Buy some cupcakes for yourself and a few special “pupcakes” made specifically for dogs.
If you don’t want to go inside the store, walk to the side of the store, and there you will find an ATM that dispenses cupcakes 24/7!
Why aren’t there more of these?? It’s such a good idea!
